As a technician at Sunshine Air Conditioning, my day starts early. The Florida heat doesn’t wait, and neither do we. By 7 AM, I’m already reviewing the day’s schedule, which typically includes a mix of AC installations, routine maintenance, and emergency service calls.
Morning: Installation in The Villages
Today’s first stop is The Villages, where we’re installing a new HVAC system for a retired couple. It’s a delicate process that requires precision and care:
- Removing the old unit
- Preparing the space for the new system
- Installing ductwork and electrical connections
- Setting up the new AC unit
By lunchtime, the installation is complete, and the homeowners are already enjoying their cool, comfortable living room.
Afternoon: Maintenance in Belleview
After a quick lunch break, I head to Belleview for a routine maintenance call. Regular upkeep is crucial for HVAC systems, especially in Florida’s humid climate. I perform a thorough check, which includes:
- Cleaning or replacing air filters
- Checking refrigerant levels
- Inspecting electrical connections
- Lubricating moving parts
The homeowner is pleased to learn that their system is in good shape and should run efficiently through the hot summer months.
Evening: Emergency Call in Ocala
Just as I’m wrapping up for the day, an emergency call comes in from Ocala. A family’s AC has stopped working on one of the hottest days of the year. I rush over to diagnose the problem, which turns out to be a faulty capacitor. Luckily, I have the part on hand and can replace it quickly, restoring cool air to the grateful family’s home.
As I drive back to the Sunshine Air Conditioning office in Marion Oaks, I reflect on another satisfying day of helping our community stay comfortable.
